swan song

The old building is over 100 years old and has served many functions...the last one as a drapery workroom that produced some of the finest couture drapery on the east coast, and perhaps the US. As a fashion design student (FIT), I learned to make clothing. As an interior designer, I put those talents to work as a drapery maker in the traditional sense. Layers of linings, mitered corners and hand hems and pleats...old world quality no longer available. Ms. Eloise and myself spent many hours toiling over the old cutting table, working out details for our private and to the trade clients. It is sad that young people no longer appreciate or understand the time and effort that goes into truly finely crafted drapery...so this is our swan song.

We hope our clients will care for and preserve the fine work that was turned out, as it will be impossible to duplicate. On to the next chapter of this life....
