A Rosie Christmas!

It's true!  Rosie, our Pekingese, gets more loot at Christmas than we do!  Most likely due to the fact that she is the only child we have left, as our other children (Katherine and Spencer) passed within a year of each other.  The were such loveable mutts...but I digress!

I have noticed that people like myself spend crazy sums of cash on health care, special diets, designer collars and leads, extravagant bedding and so forth for their four legged kids. This year Rosie made out from One Kings Lane and Henri Bendel.  Below are a few ideas for you to consider.

The cash we drop on our pets really hit me one day while I was purchasing a case of Rosie's special food at the Vet.  I happened to overhear one very well turned out lady's total for the day.  Let's just say it was well into four figures.  Frankly, I did not even bat an eye.  Kind of like the buyer of a Goyard collar for their pooch.
Rosie refuses to wear a collar...she prefers, no demands, to be carried everywhere!

Go ahead, spoil that baby of yours.  We only have them for a short while and they bring us the one thing we cannot find anywhere else...unconditional love!

Note:  Rosie is not the name we chose.  She was adopted at 8 months of age from the breeder I had used for many years (my fascination with Sister Parish is to blame when it comes to Pekes).  The breeder had no puppies and none on the way and my Sable (17 years old) had passed 6 months earlier.  Rosie is a sleeve Peke (under 7 pounds) which is no good in the show ring plus too small to breed.  She was destined for a life in a crate, but now has her own cottage with two caretakers.  We tried another name, but she would only answer to Rosie.  Peke's are stubborn that way, which is why we get on so well!

As always...xx.DT

  1. Rosie is a regal little puff ball! Only the best for our companions even if they are furry. Thank you for this posting.

  2. Hello Danny,
Yes, don't we love our four-legged friends? Although we got our Basil at 14 months (similar trajectory as yours with Rosie) he quickly adapted to his new name. We didn't care for his original name, which was Barron. In choosing a new name for him we selected one that had the same first letter, and similar syllables. Perhaps you could try renaming Rosie "Sister"? BTW, I love the first dog bed shown -- where is it from? Reggie

    1. Reggie,

Perhaps that was our problem. We tried to name her Dizzy (which she kind of is) but she would not have it. Just plain old Rosie for her! The bed is from an Etsy site I found. Her info is a bit difficult to nail down if you will pardon the pun. I love the idea of naming the next on Sister! What a grand idea! Merry Christmas to all at Darlington House/DT
