HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

It has just dawned on me that I have not posted a new entry since before Thanksgiving!  In my defense we have been traveling up and down the East Coast visiting old friends and meeting many grand new friends!  Frankly, I don't even know where to begin.  The best place to begin is always the beginning.
The latter part of October took us to Atlanta, a city we are very familiar with and have many friends there.  The thing with Atlanta is that one simply must have a car as it is a driving city (as are most Southern cities).  We arrived mid-week and hit the ground running/working at ADAC (Atlanta Decorative Arts Center) to work on several design projects and to freshen the library at DT&CO/Interiors Division.  A trip to Atlanta is never complete without breaking bread with Jennifer Boles...blogger/ author/ lecturer extraordinaire!  Also while in town I arranged a dinner with two of my FB friends and design gurus architect Bill Ingram and landscape architect John Howard.  In my opinion, these two gentlemen are the two of the most talented gents practicing in their chosen fields in the South at the moment...and they have the awards and portfolios to back it up!  We had a delightful dinner at some "hot spot" that is supposed to be one of the top 10 new restaurants in the country.  I just came for the conversation and the company.  Most importantly, two very good friends "tied the knot"!  It was a special a festive affair!

A few weeks later it was on to Manhattan for Thanksgiving week!  After a bumpy start (flight delays), we were settled in a boutique hotel I have never tried...Chambers.  It was a large room by NYC standards, large windows that actually opened, a corner room, and a working TV and shower!  I will not stay there again but the experience and convenient location at 5th and 55th was just what we needed for the week.  The highlight of the week was a private tour of the Kravet Companies design rooms. We saw the B&F collections being created, Lee Jofa, Groundworks, Threads, Kravet, and basically everything Mr. Kravet owns...which is pretty much everything!

Then it was off to Bergdorf (mecca) for a champagne lunch followed by a trip over to see Holiday House 2014.  This is an annual showhouse by designers for charity held in the same mansion just off 5th Ave. each year.  That evening we started at The Carlyle (Bemelman's Bar) to meet for the first time a fellow blogger and my hero "Reggie Darling".  After a few cocktails we sauntered over to Orsay for a leisurely dinner...we were the last to leave!

Thanksgiving Day!  Our one "have to" was lunch at Swifty's with friends from Atlanta.  The food was wonderful but the desert was out of this world fabulous!  We shall return...if only for the merigue cake.

Friday was spent at the Metropolitan,a casual dinner and drinks. The flight home was thankfully uneventful.

A few weeks after returning we adopted brother and sister Shih-Tzu's.  We are in week # 2 and we are all starting to get into our groove.  Now that da hubby has retired and is working in the business so are George and Gracie.  The family that works and plays together...well you know the rest.

The one constant in all of this was a dear friend Angela Tripp Patrick of Atlanta. As we are both orphans in a sense we have mutually decided to explore new traditions.  It is been very healing for me and I hope for Angela as well.  Many thanks to you doll.

As always much love and heres to a FAB 2015...xx.DT
