In our uber-connected world, this is even more prevalent than it was when Andy was quoted. Andy was the ultimate marketer, and got his fame off the back of others...which made him famous for much more than 15 minutes. The Campell soup can is now iconic, as are the portraits that he turned out assembly line style. I met Andy several times in the late 70's...a very shy fellow who was facinated by everyone and everything. He was never as jaded as his "crowd".
Fame for the sake of fame is very hollow. If it is fame you desire, make it stand for something more than yourself...more than greed...more than 15 minutes. After all, anyone can be famous for 15 minutes.
