2014...Resolutions and Predictions

Hardly ever do I make resolutions.  A New Years' resolution is an invitation to fail, and therefore a blow to your self esteem.  Who needs that?  We get enough blows each day to constitute a prize fight.  Nevertheless, I do have a few...just could not help it!
Resolutions:

-Forgive.  It's that simple.  Why carry around bitterness and resentment towards another human being when (typically) after the first few months you have forgotten what all the fuss was about.  This is not always the case, but forgive, not forget.  A kind man forgives, but a foolish man forgets.

-Watch my words.  Words can be the most harmful weapon in our arsenal.  Think before you speak or write.  This is most difficult while angry!

-Be kind.  Only by the grace of God am I able enjoy certain pleasures in this life.  We are not all made the same.  Arrogance is not attractive on anyone.  That guy on the street could be you one day, so be kind.  This does not imply one should be stupid however.

Predictions:

-A return to color in the home environment and less of the minimal gray and white interiors we have been plagued with over the past several years.  This is not an invitation to clutter however....edit please. Welcome back!

-Good brown furniture will once again be appreciated as classic and timeless by younger generations.  Step back from the faux paint finishes!

-We will see a huge upsurge of a new generation of entrepreneurs.  I have always been self employed, so I welcome them to the ranks.  It's tough and you must work hard and long.  You will either love it or hate it.  If you love it you will be successful.  If not.....:(

-DT will finally make that book a reality.

-Women and men will once again take an interest in learning to dress properly for different occasions.  I am seeing this already, but it never really left us in the South.  Leggings, yoga pants, and any other form of exercise apparel is just that...for exercise.

-Real food will return to restaurant menus and we will no longer have to wonder what we just ordered.  Chefs have been creative with food for many years without making food "art".  I mean really...I go the the Met for art.

-The younger generation will manage finances much better than the Boomers and Gen X and Y generations.  They have been a witness to the carnage.

-The world will continue to spin on it's axis regardless of what we do to destroy it.  Earth has a way of healing itself.  I call it God.

That is about it for my ramblings this am.  We will know in a year how far off or how right on I am!

As always...xx.DT
