A Southern Spring

Having spent the majority of my life in North Carolina, I have yet to experience an Easter Sunday that did not include blooming azaleas and dogwoods.  It is as if God waves a magic wand and issues a command....open your blooms NOW!

Regardless of your faith, you can depend on this magical show of color every year at Easter.  Although the color is short lived, the plants themselves have little to offer once they bloom, the popularity of the azalea in the South is undeniable.

Pink dogwoods are a personal favorite of mine because they are so rare. As a tree that prefers to grow under the canopy of larger trees in their natural habitat, the most beautiful ones are seen at the edge of the treeline on a country road.  Trivia fact....the dogwood is the state flower of NC!

So get ready for the show to begin!

As always...xx.DT
