The name was encouraged by my crazy Facebook friend, retail guru, and always fashionable Johnnie Britt.  The initial look and kickoff would not have happened without my long time friend Angela Tripp Patrick (of Ainsworth Noah fame) and my brilliant new friend Jennifer Boles.  JB kindly came up to Raleigh with Angela to do a wonderful book signing party for which I will be forever grateful!  Joey Kue made sure everything got into place in time and Aubrey Palmer made sure it was all paid for (gotta love a sharp business woman).  It was all very formal with a bit of a twist, lots of silk and gilt and polished antiques with original brass fittings.  Lovely.

Fast forward.  As beautiful as all this is, Raleigh is not Park Avenue and our clients just don't have many spots for period gilded settee's (even in a fab striped silk).  What we have found is they want to incorporate these lovely old pieces into an active home with a more casual vibe.  To that end we are playing down some of the silks, bringing in more fun printed cottons, gingham's, stripes and applying them on our antique/vintage chairs and custom upholstered pieces.  We still love using vintage lamps, side tables, and chests, but the fun is in the mix.  Old and new.

Topsy Turvy English County is the best way I know to describe the look we are going for.  A bit of English, French, my beloved Chinoiserie, comfy seating, great colors, a dash of animal, all mixed up but working!  The photos above are a few initial ideas we are playing with...more fabric samples and two truckloads of art, lighting, and antiques are on the way!

After Labor Day (once you are all settled again) we will be hosting a little party to kick off our new showroom redo.  It will be a bit less formal than last time but just as fun.  Perhaps I can pull off another fun guest like JB for you all to meet!  Stay tuned and check out Instagram and FB to see the progress.

As always...xx.DT
