PROJECT 2818 FOWLER

Once upon a time this one block street...Fowler Ave....was on the edge of town.  That was long before I-40 and RTP came along.  Raleigh was just a small town that happened to be the state capital.  Now the Triangle is a major metropolitan area with an economy based on research and development, health care, education, and government.  Fowler Ave. (the street where I live) is now very close to the center of the city nestled in a quaint neighborhood we call University Park.
In better days...photo from the Wake Gov tax records.

As a Realtor and resident of University Park, I have made it my personal mission to revive, renovate, and restore the older homes of the neighborhood. The house we are working on at the moment with Fox Creek Investments LLC is one such home.  This is the 4th one in this neighborhood within two years.  2818 is by far the most ambitious undertaking requiring an architect, engineer, and a host of expert craftsmen...and a fiscally wise and socially conscious investor who is making all this possible.
The Raleigh Rose Garden and Little Theater is within walking distance!

At one time, this home was a part of the Kenyon property.  One by one these homes and the vacant land was sold to investors who wasted no time turning them into college rentals (very lucrative).  Nothing against college students, but this was certainly not the highest and best use of these properties.  A fine elementary school and lovely parks within walking distance makes this neighborhood of bungalows and cottages...large and small...perfect for a diverse mix of homeowners.  In addition, a very active neighborhood association (and the oldest in Raleigh) bonds these homeowners and keeps us all informed.
We are a community.  Here is a link to our neighborhood homeowners group for more info and history on this area of what is now "old Raleigh".

At DT&CO Real Estate, it is so important to me personally to preserve what should be preserved...the sense of community...a feeling of history...a respect for what came before.

The last of the Kenyon houses is being renovated with additions and will become a wonderful 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home with a sunroom, mudroom, a foyer addition, and a lovely new master suite. Complete with 2 working fireplaces, this will once again be the finest home on Fowler Ave!  Check back and see the progress as it happens.  I promise you will be amazed!

As always...xx.DT
