The First Touch....Hardware

Door hardware, especially on the front door, is typically the first touch or contact a visitor has with your home.  There are many styles, finishes, and sizes of door hardware.  All these elements of design should be considered when choosing the proper door handle, door knocker, kickplate, or any other items that may be used on the entry door.

My personal taste runs towards traditional, but the above extra tall contemporary orange doors look great with these oversized brass handles and kickplates.

Think about what your guests will see and touch while they wait for you to answer the door.  And from a Realtor's point of view...make sure your locks are in good working order.  A bit of graphite will loosen a stubborn key with very little effort.
