It's Very Clear...Lucite is Back!
It seems everywhere I look these days Lucite is being shaped into some type of furniture. The proves the old saying "everything old is new again"! Philippe Starck started the trend years ago with the iconic Ghost Chair. I have a friend who used one in the shower! It was quite the conversation piece at the time.
I am loving some of the classics reinterpreted in this clear material. A Lucite piece in a room serves just as a glass piece...it fades away and can open up a tight space. Also, it ca be just very clever and give a "tired" room a new punch! Who knew...Lucite. What goes around comes around if you stick around long enough.
And of course Jonathan Adler is getting in the act. I love the collection below with brass fittings! Think "60's Palm Beach" take off from there. Be careful...a little goes a long way!
Even a bar cart...very practical...easy cleanup!
Vintage pieces are all around. Make sure to check these out in person, as Lucite can become "cloudy" over time and does not do well with heavy use. I am quite sure the bar cart above is of the vintage variety. Buyer beware!
